Jackdaw 4

Backtracking a bit again – the first (and only!) gig I’ve shot this year was a great show by Jackdaw 4 at the 100 Club on Oxford Street, promoting Retrospectacles, their (rather fantastic) 25-track back catalogue.

First thing to say about this night is that I was not firing on all cylinders – this was the day that the jetlag (sorry, I promise this is the last time I’ll mention it) hit me, and I was having major trouble being coherent/sociable/awake, so I apologise to anyone who witnessed me rambling nonsensically in their general direction.

Gear-wise, this was the lightest I’ve travelled to a gig in a while – just a 50mm lens, no fuss. I have to admit, this was one situation where I really missed having a zoom lens for a greater variety of shots – zooming with my feet wasn’t really an option, ‘cos (quite rightly) it was a busy gig with people right up to the stage (not hanging back in that hideous “I’m too cool for that” way that’s sometimes in evidence in our capital city). In my slightly detached frame of mind I also found it interesting to observe different types of photographer etiquette – that’s possibly a post for another time though!

Here’s my set of pics from the night, and you can also see some video footage from the gig on Jackdaw 4’s website, so you can see for yourself that it was a good night rather than just taking my word for it :)
