Photos taken for Pure Rawk – more will be online shortly.
You can also read Nix’s interview with Joey Tempest on the Pure Rawk website.
Unfortunately for me, SBE’s policy is to make photographers leave after the first three songs, but if those first three were anything to go by, I missed a fantastic night – next time I will make sure I have a ticket in my grubby paws so that I can stay for the duration!

As I blogged a while back, I’m holding an exhibition in May (full details to follow), and have started to think about which photographs I’d like to include. I’d like to invite readers of this blog to help me make the selection.
At the beginning of March I’ll put up a link to all of the possible contenders, and your feedback will help me to decide which ones make the final cut. The results will be posted at the end of March.
Everyone who joins in will be entered into a prize draw, and at the beginning of May, when the exhibition launches, I’ll pick a winner at random. The winner’s prize will be a 12×16 unframed print of their favourite photo from the exhibition, and the draw is not limited to the UK – I’ll post the prize anywhere in the world.
To join in, just sign up to my photography page on facebook and keep an eye out for exhibition updates.

Backtracking a bit again – the first (and only!) gig I’ve shot this year was a great show by Jackdaw 4 at the 100 Club on Oxford Street, promoting Retrospectacles, their (rather fantastic) 25-track back catalogue.
First thing to say about this night is that I was not firing on all cylinders – this was the day that the jetlag (sorry, I promise this is the last time I’ll mention it) hit me, and I was having major trouble being coherent/sociable/awake, so I apologise to anyone who witnessed me rambling nonsensically in their general direction.
Gear-wise, this was the lightest I’ve travelled to a gig in a while – just a 50mm lens, no fuss. I have to admit, this was one situation where I really missed having a zoom lens for a greater variety of shots – zooming with my feet wasn’t really an option, ‘cos (quite rightly) it was a busy gig with people right up to the stage (not hanging back in that hideous “I’m too cool for that” way that’s sometimes in evidence in our capital city). In my slightly detached frame of mind I also found it interesting to observe different types of photographer etiquette – that’s possibly a post for another time though!

Here’s my set of pics from the night, and you can also see some video footage from the gig on Jackdaw 4’s website, so you can see for yourself that it was a good night rather than just taking my word for it

Let’s rewind slightly – I’d got as far as publishing the photos on Flickr, but not blogging them here.

This was one of those nights when things didn’t go quite as they were supposed to regarding access, but it was fun nonetheless, and the atmosphere in the venue was nothing short of ace!
