Just a bit of background

The years before I got into photography were full of rock music. At 11 I discovered Twisted Sister and Kiss, at 16 I went to my first gig (Frehley’s Comet at Hammersmith Odeon). At 18 I moved to Nottingham to study Classics, and spent Fridays and Saturdays in Rock City for the next three years, as well as abusing my student coach card to take off to as many gigs around the country as I could.

It was years later that I started taking a camera out with me, initially just for my own enjoyment, but I reached the point where I started wanting to take it further. I only wish it hadn’t taken so long for the penny to drop! Bandsonstage was started when I was 34. Since then I’ve sworn at bad lighting more times than I care to remember, and covered hundreds of gigs and festivals including Sonisphere, Download, Sweden Rock, Bloodstock, Hammerfest, Hevy and Hard Rock Hell.

Over the last six years I’ve surpassed any expectations I had when I first picked up a camera, and will continue to go where the opportunities take me. I’ve been fortunate enough to build relationships with and photograph some of my favourite bands and artists, be part of some truly special events, and work with some fantastic people. What’s next?
